Meet Dr. Balci

Gamze Balci, M.D.

With an exceptional background, including triple board certification in psychiatry, behavioral neurology/neuropsychiatry, and lifestyle medicine, Dr. Balci brings unparalleled expertise to her practice. This rare combination of qualifications enables her to offer a distinctive, holistic approach to patient care, further enriched by her multicultural background, which enhances her ability to understand and embrace the unique needs and perspectives of individuals from all walks of life. She advocates for overall well-being and emotional regulation as key factors in unlocking human potential, guiding her patients on a transformative journey toward greater fulfillment while empowering them to shape their futures and live their most impactful, joyful lives.

In working with Dr. Balci, patients take an active role and collaborate with her to develop holistic treatment plans that prioritize health improvement, lifestyle modifications, and psychotherapeutic interventions. She judiciously integrates advanced medication options when necessary, ensuring that, even when medication is the primary approach, it complements other strategies tailored to the patient’s unique needs.

She delves into the root causes of her patients' challenges, educating them about the inner workings of their brains and shedding light on the origins of coping mechanisms initially designed to alleviate emotional pain but often exacerbating it in the long term. Dr. Balci guides her patients to recognize and replace these detrimental patterns, paving the way toward a more fulfilling and peaceful future, all while strengthening their ability to stay in the present moment.

Before founding her practice, Dr. Balci honed her expertise through extensive training, practice, and teaching within the Mayo Clinic system. She then joined the esteemed interventional psychiatry team at the University of Minnesota, where she advanced her skills in neuromodulation techniques. Her experience was further expanded by her work at the Amen Clinic, renowned as the first practice to integrate functional brain imaging with a holistic approach to brain health and psychiatric care. She has a background in academic psychiatry, having served as a faculty member and an assistant professor at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and University of Minnesota Medical School. She has published numerous research articles in her field.
